Don’t be a Grinch this Holiday Season. Opt out for a seasonal cocktail that will be sure to have your heart growing three sizes that day.

“It’s not about how you start, it’s about you who are when you finish,” said the Grinch. Yes, this really hits true  the morning after that holiday pub crawl.

 

This year, the beloved fictional character of Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch turns 65! The Grinch would have anxiety all over again knowing you’re still having a vodka-soda at home. So, try your hand at our Grinch Holiday Cocktail recipe below.  Not much of a bartender? Visit one (or many?) of some of our favourite places in Vancouver to have a vodka cocktail.

Grinch Vodka Holiday Cocktail

This cocktail is a spin off of the classic Green Ghost. Only 5 ingredients this simple cocktail will be a hit at your next holiday party. There are two types of Chartreuse: Green or Yellow. Green Chartreuse is less sweet with a herbal flavour, Yellow Chartreuse is higher in alcohol.

 

You will need:

Green Chartreuse

Vodka

Fresh Lime Juice

Rimming sugar

A few mint leaves

Optional: simple syrup

Coupe glass

Martini shaker

 

Directions:

  1. Fill your coupe glasses with ice or chill glass in freezer
  2. Add your mint* leaves in the shaker and fill with ice
  3. Pour in 4 oz vodka; 1 oz green Chartreuse; 1 oz fresh lime juice (add 1/2 oz simple syrup if you like your cocktails sweeter)
  4. Shake vigorously
  5. Empty the coupe glasses of ice and rim on one side with rimming sugar
  6. Strain your libation into the chilled glasses and serve

 

*Sub the mint leaves for thyme and sub the simple syrup for maple syrup for a deeper flavour.
