Formula One legend, David Courthard, didn’t disappoint 14,000 fans around the streets of beautiful old Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Together with Red Bull Bulgaria and the Red Bull Racing Team the legendary British pilot (David Coulthard) pivots carefully through iconic locations in the city on the hills ending at Greben Canal.
Red Bull Showrun collapsed an afternoon of powerful energy into four minutes of video, shown below. “One of the big inspirations for making the project was the presence of David Coulthard and Formula 1 in Plovdiv. We are used to seeing the car on the tracks, not on the cobblestones. This discrepancy between the two elements brought a great dose of magical realism into our video,” says the screenwriter and director of the video Ivan Moskov of Beardfrost Productions.
“The whole logistics of the project was a challenge – the closing of the boulevards, the safety of the team and citizens, the crowds of people who we didn’t want to be seen in the frame, but who came from everywhere. Especially when, in parallel, the car itself, as soon as it started, we had a few seconds to start the cameras and shoot. At the same time, all other factors had to be organized and lined up for the shot. There were quite a few critical moments, but we managed to do it, because of the experienced team and especially because of our invaluable assistant director – Boyka Pehlivanova . Without her, everything would have fallen apart on the first morning,” says the chief operator of the production, Stoil Dimitrov.
